G3s - Discipleship Groups
what is a G3 discipleship group?
G3 discipleship groups are a tool for personal growth. They provide encouragement, commitment, accountability and support for all participants.
What does it involve?
A G3 group is two or three people of the same gender meeting for an hour a week to be accountable to each other. Each group meeting starts by working through a list of questions designed to focus on growth. These questions cover areas such as:
- How you’re living your life
- Areas of failure and success
- Helping others
- Prayer
- Reading the Bible
A typical G3 group will run for a few months then split so each member can gather a couple of new members. This increases the number of disciples being created and helps grow the church.
Why should I get involved in a G3 group?
- The Bible recommends groups of two or three in several places:
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12, NLT
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17, NLT - It’s easier to be open and honest in a group of three than in a large group.
- Committing to meet weekly and read the Bible ensures we grow, and helps us make disciples of others.
- You can be encouraged by the other members of your group, and can encourage them too.
