Like a lot of our Vineyard churches, Urban Vineyard started with a group of friends meeting in a lounge sharing a meal and sharing their dreams. From that simple start, the group grew too large for a house and so moved to a commercial building in downtown Auckland in Wellesley St.
We had our public launch as a church in April 2001. We continued to grow and outgrew that location and moved to an empty warehouse in Newton Rd (our present location) at the end of 2002. We began with a meeting at 5pm, and then in 2007 launched a morning gathering - Urban @10am - which included a great kids program as well.
Our desire is to continue to reach people with the great news of Jesus, and keep on adding new congregations as well as growing our exisiting ones.
It has been a great adventure so far, and we can't wait to see what Jesus will do with among us next!
